Expand Your World Celebration Dinner!

To be completely honest, few companies I've worked with have made it into a special circle I call People and Production Companies which I will pay tons of money to work with when I get Wealthy. Sp8 Digital is one of those companies, and now I have reason to believe Loyola Marymount is in that group as well. After finishing shooting for Loyola Marymount's Expand Your World study abroad program, they have asked everyone involved in the project to attend an informal dinner to celebrate the project this coming Thursday. Adjectives to describe such an action; nice, giving, fun. They really were great hosts onsite and easy/interesting to work with, so this dinner is actually almost too much, but how thoughtful of them to do it.

Expand Your World Shoot Wrap

Today wrapped filming for me on Expand Your World a promo for Loyola Marymount's new study abroad program. I forgot my camera, but this picture I found of the campus is one of the locations we shot. However, except for the last shot, everything was shot on green-screen. So, although we shot here, there was a huge green screen up. Basically we shot outside for the sunlight, and nothing else. The shoot was broken up into two days, the first day I will appear to have been in a Shaolin Temple playing finger kung-fu fight in front of a actual kung-fu fight. The guy who choreographed and was part of the kung-fu fight, Jack, was a really cool Taiwanese man. He had studied martial arts his whole life, taught around town, and had the comedic sensibility of my grandmother. He truly believes that I should learn Kung-Fu, and now I think I should as well.
The second day of shooting, today, was outside. We actually were sitting at a table outside talking about our study abroad experiences, in character of course. There was some miscommunication between the director and the producer, so my part became completely improv. I really enjoy improv, but I'm always worried that the one time everyone loves the shot, will also be the time my made-up line will flop. Today, the direction for the line went the entire spectrum from zanny to serious, and I learned how to say good in Chinese.
Some examples of lines I used were:
Loved China, but I'm not sure I can return because I killed General Tao with my stomach
Soy Sauce is way better than ketchup
I'm about to expand your world. General Tao, not a general, just a guy who like chicken
The Great wall defended against the Mongol's, I had no idea.
Anyway, I felt good about this shoot. This marks one of the first times that I felt completely comfortable. When the line would need to be changed or the direction shifted, I never assumed that I was a bad actor, the entire day I felt like I was a good actor. That is a great feeling that I hope to feel more and more often.

Flix Friday The Silent Film!!

Today in the Friday Flix is the long awaited Silent Film, The Big Surprise. This film stars Jade and Rob as well as Kat and Jackson with a special appearance by myself.
I had initially anticipated that I would not only film and direct it, but I would score it myself. However, teaching myself piano and then learning how to play ragtime was taking forever; so this flix features tunes by The Original Dixieland Band,Jelly Roll Morton,The New Orleans Jazz Band, and also clips from the music of Bob Dylan and the Smashing Pumpkins. I hope you enjoy this, and check back in three weeks for the next Friday Flix.

Performance Date with LA Connection

Friday May 9th. On this particular night, I will be performing with the prestigious LA Connection Improv company for the first time. Of course it will be just like one of my classes and will include most of the same people, but this will also include an audience; and you can be part of this very special audience. Don't worry too much if you can't attend, there will be several other dates, but this is just the first. If you would like to attend, I have very cheap tickets I can get for you, just ask. In the meantime, I'm getting excited about my semi-return to live theatre.

New Feature

Do you ever sit around and wonder what I'm sitting around thinking/looking at? Well, awesome, I'm going to solve your quantry. I'm adding a link at the top of the page to my tumblr site, which I post things that interest me or things I like; it's a bit less business related than this page. "Check it out and feel free to recommend new bands, videos, photos, etc. Once this post moves down, you can click on the Fantastico link above.

Additional K-Town Shooting Days

I have more shooting dates scheduled for K-Town. It's mostly pick-up shots from the Hollywood reservoir shoot that didn't get finished, but none the less, I'm excited to be working.

Headshots - As Promised

Here are my possible new headshots. I'm posting them here, but blogger crops them slightly on the right so click on them to be taken to the full image. Now, I need critiques from everyone to tell me just what they do and don't like about each picture. Also, I have a favorite, can you guess which one? Which is your favorite?

I'm between image hosting sites at the moment, any ideas on what is a good one?

Back and Better than Ever

In case you didn't know, I've been in Mexico for the past week or so; soaking up the rays and catching some waves. Anyway, now I'm back, and I'm ready to put even more out there. I'll update more later, but here's a quick summary; additional improv movie dates, headshots, improv, the other improv, update. I'll post more tonight at work, but there's a little something to wet your whistle. Also, there will be not Friday Flix this week, just to restate, it will be every three weeks from now on, so check back next week.
