Quick Update Pilot Wrap, New Casting and Rehearsal

Weird Laws the BBC pilot I was working on wrapped. I should probably mention that my bit part was upgraded to one of the four main hosts. I shot for three days filming all sorts of ridiculous law breaks around LA, and now I'm just sitting back and waiting for it to air in England, Europe and the US before the end of the year. I signed an NDA, so I can't say much else here other that than.
Casting: I was cast in a short film titled The Devil's Blues. The shooting schedule was difficult to work around at first, but after some fanagaling it looks like I'll spend the weekend of July 11th in the desert near Barstow. The film focus around the relationship between two characters Jesse, a gas station attendant at an all but deserted gas station, and The Man in Black, a guy who sold his soul to the devil to learn to play the fiddle/violin. I'm playing Jesse and met with the director and the rest of the cast today for our first rehearsal. I'm really excited about this project. Over the next two weeks I'm going to immerse myself in research for the part, but the work should pay off, for once.

Casting:Weird Laws Pilot

I was cast as part of a jackass/hidden camera BBC pilot. The show will be composed of various clips of people breaking odd/outdated laws, and I will be taking part in some law re-enactment involving a flower shop mix-up and a lawsuit. This will not be a recurring law on the show.

Open Mic: Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf recap

Last night I played this neat open mic in Encino, put on I believe by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in conjunction with Soapbox. This is a really different open mic because it is outside, it's organized by the host (so there is alot invested in it from all sides), and there are even refreshments. I was one of the last people to sign-up so I went on at the end. I played Untitled and then the audience said they wanted another upbeat song so I played Green Goblin, forgetting the lyrics again. I was also onstage in the middle of the night during something they called 'jambox' which is where people get onstage and sing/riff on a main theme, which was Smurfs. It was interesting? I'm scheduled to work every Thursday from now until the end of July, but I hope to make it back to play this open mic as soon as I can. No pictures this time, Jade wasn't there to take them.

2 Way to see me this week

Here is an update on where you can catch me this week.
Thursday 6-19 @ 7pm, I'm going to play an open mic at the Coffee Bean and Tealeaf on Ventura in Encino. I've never played here before, but I read some great reviews. Write me if you plan to come and I can send you the exact address. The show is slated to begin at 7, but I'm not sure if that's when sign-up begins or when the actual show begins. It's FREE, and it's an open mic so it's not just me you'll get to see if you attend the show.
Friday 6-20 @ 7pm, IMPROV! I'll be performing at the LA Connection Improve Theatre @ 13442 Ventra Blvd, Sherman Oaks. $10 to see the show, unless you contact me then I can get you very discounted tickets. This is one of my last shows with this company for a while and Caroline is scheduled to be in the show, so it will definately be worth checking out.

If I had to choose between the two shows, I'd side towards the Improv because the Coffe Bean and Tealeaf is undiscovered country to me and could present anything.
Hope to see you over the next few days.

Open Mic Performance

Too much rock for one lens.
Last night I played an open mic at Cafe Muse in Hollywood. I opened with Green Goblin (Disco no more) then went on to Odysseus and closed with Green Goblin (Disco no more). I forgot the words to Green Goblin the first time so I quit and went back to it at the end, where I forgot some of the words again, but just made some new ones up. This open mic was awesome; I would suggest anyone interested in doing open mics check it out. Early on in the evening, there were a few of the weird open mic people, but besides that everyone talented, I liked several of the performers, and even those I didn't like were talented. The staff was great and the atmosphere has a comfortable feel.
This video is the end of Odysseus

This one is the end of Green Goblin (Disco no more)

I'm hoping to play some more open mics this week and next week so check back for new pictures, stories, and videos.

My Face is For Sale

That's right everyone, the images from the Getty Shoot are out and my face is for sale. I suppose this is what some pepole would call a milestone. The closest I can get to a link to the images is Here at the photographer's page. You'll have to look around a bit, but I think the majority of the pictures are on the first four pages.
In case the link doesn't work; http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?assettype=image&artist=Thomas+Northcut.

Flix Friday for 6 - 13 - 08

Harry Potter Loves the Order of the Phoenix: Director's Cut Here we have the long anticipated extended version of the contest entry spoof by the same title. The real difference between the contest version and this director's cut is the music. Although I think the music I created for the contest version was good, I think the original music which I had in mind fits a bit better.

View Note:
Let the film load to its entirely before pressing play.

Submission The Adventures of Nupa the Pupa and Slink the Worm

Today I performed my first magazine submission of one of my works; I submitted The Adventures of Nupa the Pupa and Slinky the Worm to Highlights Magazine. It's a young children's fiction story consisting of less that 500 words about the events that transpire once the wind steals Nupa's Gradpa's wings. I wrote it and it was edited by Jenn. Since this is my first submission I am not counting on making it into the magazine, although, that would be awesome. I will keep you up to date when I get a reply, which I am expecting close to the beginning of next month. Either way, today marks my first official step forward onto being a writer.

The Bubble Show Final Rehearsal

I PASSED! I looks like within the next few days I could begin work with Fun and Discovery with Bubbles. The final rehearsal was last night and I passed all the sections. Also, more fun and important news, I have been given the equipment for the show which means I can post some clips of myself performing parts of the show, we can all look forward to that. I might actually be more excited about posting clips of me performing then actually performing. Look forward to more updates about my first and future bookings, as well as you tube clips.

The Bubble Show Second Rehearsal

*I'll forewarn you, some of this should be read in a British Accent*
If you haven't noticed, I haven't posted any bits of me performing bubble tricks or entertaining you with bubble science and bubble factoids, but that will happen, and, even though it wasn't posted here, the show did go on.
I had my second rehearsal on Tuesday Mid-day, and I was more or less approved for the show. It looks like I will indeed be performing at children's parties, school gatherings, and camp events throughout the summer of 2008. There are several tweaks I need to make to my performance (my bubble in a bubble is crap) but besides that I think I'll do quite well.
Hope to have some action posted up here early next week.
Here's a tid-bit. The picture for this post is a actual real The Bubble Show moment. The man in the picture is the creator of the show, I call him the Bubble Prince.
