Joined From the Ground Up Theatre

Today I got invited and accepted an invitation to join From the Ground Up Theatre, a bi-coastal theatre group with a stage in Silverlake, an LA suburb, and somewhere in NYC. I don't know much about the group, but I know that the first project with which I will be involved is a night of scenes directed, stage managed, and acted by various members of the group. Further interesting points of this group are that they produce new work and that I am welcome to perform at both the NYC and LA stage.
I have my first meeting with the group next tuesday. YAY!

POPgoes my bubble career

I'm writing to announce that I have officially ended my work engagement with Fun and Discovery with Bubbles. Having performed a grand total of 0 shows with the company, I feel the need now to look back over classic Bubble moments.
Top Five
5. First learning how to make big bubble.
4. Being put inside of a bubble, something I've always wanted to do since I was a little kid.
3. Comparing bubble work to the god Vishnu.
2. Learning how to make a balloon Octopus.
1. Being in 'bubble class' when one of my fellow trainees correctly pointed out that he had barely finished High School but was in the same job and equipped with much the same skill set as myself.

Highlights Submission pt2: The Great Equalizer

Rejected, The Adventure of Nupa and Pupa was by Highlights. I put the verb first because if you are anything like me you would have just scanned for the outcome anyway. The reason for the rejection is that they apparently don't need stores about daring wing-coat rescues at this time.
I attached the rejection letter because it's not exactly what I expect from a letter of this sort; several times they degrade themselves but they also use the word rejection/rejected. It feels ultimately like they're worried about people killing themselves upon receiving the notice.
I remain undeterred however and am preparing to send the story off to several other children's publications. More on that to come.

The Table Improv

Friday, after the cancellation of Devil Blues, I was cast in The Table Improv, a weekly web series based around a table in these guys Adam and Robert's apartment. The concept is awesome, each Friday Night they cast two to ten people and together the group creates a plot line for the show and map out various running gags that will be inserted throughout the shoot. Once complete, the episode is shot and then throughout the week Adam edits it together. The idea is awesome and I do plan on piggybacking on it as soon as I get my new camera.
In our episode, Adam has created a pyramid scheme-esk cult and myself and two girls show up for no specific reason only to find he wants to induct us. Though I didn't get anyone's full name, the girls were very talented at improv. There were some rough spots in the evening as many of our ideas took non-existent props and people began to cling to ideas instead of moving with the group, myself included, but all in all it was a fun group of people which makes improv fun. The best part of the evening was during the brainstorming portion when we as a group got past polite laughs so I knew right away which ideas were good and which I should never attempt again, which is often hard to do in a group of people, especially a group where people think they're funny.
The sketch should be available on The Table Improv's myspace page in a few weeks. I'll post an update when I get a final publishing date.

Devil Blues Update

Devil Blues Shooting Journal
Day 1:Shooting was scheduled to begin today, Friday July 11th, near Barstow. I woke up this morning and was about thirty miles away from the shoot location when I got a call from the AD saying that the set had been hit by rolling thunderstorm. Everyone was busy running around protecting the equipment and striking the set so I don't know much more that. The shoot was cancelled for this weekend, but hopefully will be rescheduled for September.
I've been really busy preparing for the shoot and, though I was looking forward to beginning the filming, I am thankful for the extra days to prepare.

Joining the Actor's Group

So a few weeks ago, I auditioned for a cold reading/workshop group. I was promised that I'd hear from them the next day if I was admitted, and, having never heard from them, I assumed that I had not made the cut. Which, I won't lie, upset me. However, while I was away for the 4th, I got a call which explained the whole situation and I was kindly asked to join the company. I'm very excited about beginning to participate in the workshops, this is after-all the group recommended by Pam from The Office
